Malaika Media is a firm believer in all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We also take some time off from the work to live a little but of course we did not forget our love for photography. If we can’t document our own experiences through photos then how can we do it for others.
This is a throw back of our Nyege Nyege experience from 2017 ; one of Uganda’s highly anticipated events of the year. A weekend long celebration of life, culture, music that attracts people from in and outside the borders of Uganda.
Wondering what all the fuss was about, we decided to also partake in the event – our team comprising of Emmanuel Museruka, the late Julie Mirembe and Blessing Naturinda took the journey to Jinja in the eastern part of Uganda.
The scenery coupled with the blend of beautiful people was the biggest highlight. Everyone was immensely friendly as if there was a memo sent in forming all those to be in attendance. People in high spirits ready to party the weekend away day and night regardless of what the weather was.
It is a celebration that never stops, kicking off from Friday til Sunday when people think of leaving. Accommodation during Nyege Nyege is a tricky situations with people booking months in advance. Anyone that lands in Jinja without a sound accomodation plan would be in for quite the shocker.
All in all, the socialization, party atmosphere and the super late nights are worth the experience and it is one that we look back at fondly. If you haven’t been to Nyege Nyege, make it a point to do so in 2020. Enjoy the lovely photos we took.
