It’s not the years in your life that count. Its the life in your years
Abraham Lincoln
Human Immuno Virus (HIV) epidemic has hit us hard since the 1980s when the first recorded case came into the limelight. Lots of programs have been designed to reduce the prevalence and stop the spread of the virus in Africa and cross the world. Programs like PEPFAR but the epidemic is still with us. We have to continue to think of solutions. At Malaika Media, we take a collective effort to promote SDG 1 – Goal 1: end poverty. Poverty can increase vulnerability to HIV infection. Malaika Media continues to create jobs and currently employs twenty young people. We also promote SDG – Goal 3 – Health & Well-being.
One of the best ways to fight stigma and empower HIV-Positive People is by speaking out openly and honestly about who we are and what we experience.

One day, we’d love to say, I used to have HIV

Having worked on HIV projects with USAID/SDS, UNAIDS and many others, we understand the effects of the Virus to our community. Myself, I have had a chance to see my grand parents reach 70 years, 80 years even 90s, this is no more. We are now losing our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, wives, husbands, as early as 20s, 30s, 40s yet these are the most productive ages. It is so absurd that we are growing up orphans or with single parents. Lets double our efforts and fight against HIV. Lets stop HIV.
