The myths and thrills SURROUNDING Friday the 13th

Movie junkies are familiar with the phrase ; “Friday the 13th” but even if you aren’t that much into movies, you have probably had it spoken somewhere. A day that happens atleast once or twice a year where the iconic 13th day of a given month meets with the fifth day of the week.

What’s all the fuss about

Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in western superstition. The irrational fear of the number 13 and the generic phobia of Friday the 13th stems from several historical events that coincidentally land on this given date / day. Such as the last supper of Jesus Christ which was ideally the culminating event before the crucifixion of the son of God.

A lot more theories transcend across the scope of history in regards to this day which leads to quite the increased phobia that is termed as paraskevidekatriaphobia.

Friday the 13ths – the movie

The movie carries on the phobic trend that this day possesses with its horror set of sequels “Friday the 13th” featuring a tormented kid called Jason who comes back to haunt humanity. Arguably one of cinemas best selling movies in the genre of horror.
